Privacy policy

RobotDoorstep is a buyer's guide to home and office robots, written by the RobotDoorstep team ("we", "us"). This policy covers robotdoorstep.com.

What we collect

There are no accounts, sign-up forms, comment boxes or email lists on this site, and we do not ask for your name or contact details.

Anonymous tool and click events. When you use our quizzes, finders and calculators, or click a store button, your browser sends us a small anonymous event: which tool or page it was, the answers you picked in the tool (for example a floor type or budget range), the product we suggested, and the store link you clicked. Events carry no cookies, no device ID, no name and no email. We do not store your IP address or browser user agent with them; we use a short-lived, one-way hash of the IP address only in memory to rate-limit abuse, and it is never saved. Events are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine and we look at them only as totals (for example, which robots people pick most).

Tools run in your browser. The calculators, filters and comparison tables work in your browser; what you type into them stays there unless it is one of the picks described above.

Email. If you email us, Cloudflare Email Routing forwards your message to our team inbox. We use it only to reply.

Hosting and security (Cloudflare). The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data (IP address, browser type, the page requested, time) to deliver pages and block abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics). We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a small script Cloudflare adds to our pages. It does not set cookies, does not use local storage, and does not build a profile of you across sites. We see totals such as page views, referring sites, countries and device types, not individual visitors.

Cookies

We do not set cookies. Store sites you click through to (Amazon, robot makers and other retailers) may set their own cookies, including affiliate tracking cookies, under their own policies.

Store links and affiliate programs

Store links take you to the maker's or retailer's own site. Our disclosure page lists which links, if any, are affiliate links that may earn us a commission. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored. When you click one, the store (and the affiliate network it uses, such as Amazon Associates or Impact) may record that the visit came from us so it can pay a commission; that is governed by the store's privacy policy, not ours. We never receive your name, address or what else you buy.

What we share

We do not sell or share personal information. Service providers that run the site (Cloudflare for hosting, analytics, event storage and email forwarding) process the data described above. We may publish anonymous totals, for example in our open data. We may disclose information if the law requires it. If the site is sold or transferred, its data would transfer with it, still covered by this policy.

Search engines, AI tools and machine-readable copies

Our public pages may also be published as plain-text or Markdown copies (for example llms.txt or a .md version of a page) so search engines and AI assistants can read them. These copies contain the same public content as the pages and never contain visitor data or anything you send us. Our robots.txt file says which automated crawlers may read the site.

How long we keep information

Anonymous events are kept in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, which deletes them automatically after its retention period (currently about three months). Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle them.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (including California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We do not sell or share personal information. Email us at the address below to make a request. We will confirm the request came from you (usually by replying from the same email address) and answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

This site is for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date first.
