How long do pool robots last?

Updated

Our verdict

Plan on 3 to 6 years, the range Dolphin owners report, and buy the longest written warranty you can, because cordless batteries are internal and brands don't publish replacement prices. Beatbot's 36 months with the battery included is the strongest term we found.

Short answer: expect about 3 to 6 years from a pool robot, based on owner reports for corded Dolphins, and treat the warranty as the real lifespan you're paying for. Cordless batteries are sealed inside, and no brand we checked lists an out-of-warranty battery price on its own site or a major retailer as of Oct 29, 2026.

How long do pool robots last?

Owners of the corded Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus report 3 to 6 years, with some longer, in threads on r/pools and r/swimmingpools. The common failures they describe are the power supply and the cable at the swivel. On the cordless side, one Florida owner on r/PoolRobotHub said a Polaris FREEDOM ran 4.5 years before the battery died. That's one report, not a rule.

What warranty do pool robot brands offer?

Brand and model Warranty Source, seen Oct 29, 2026

Beatbot's policy also says a warranty replacement may not be new and that you pay to ship the robot in.

How much does a pool robot battery replacement cost?

Check price. None of Aiper, Beatbot or Polaris lists a replacement battery for its cordless cleaners on its own site, and we found none at the major retailers we use. Aiper's battery page says the X1 battery is internal and not user-replaceable, and asks owners to file a warranty assessment with the purchase date and serial number. The only figure we found is the Polaris owner's report of a quote over $700.

That's the case for buying inside a long warranty. If a battery fails in month 30, a 36-month term covers it and a 12-month term doesn't. Run the numbers on keeping a service instead with the robot vs pool service calculator.

How do you make a pool robot last longer in Florida?

  • Rinse after salt. Aiper says rinse the robot with fresh water and dry the charging port after each run in a salt pool. Hayward puts a typical salt system at 2,700 to 3,400 ppm, under the 5,000 ppm limit Beatbot and Maytronics list.
  • Charge in the shade. Aiper says to move an overheated robot somewhere cool and wait 30 to 60 minutes before charging.
  • Clean the basket every run. Beatbot says a clogged basket makes the robot retry climbs and drains the battery.
  • Store it out of the sun. Maytronics' Wave 90i manual says to store the robot out of direct sun, rain and frost, between 41 and 113°F, and to clean the filter basket after each cycle.
  • Untwist the cable on corded robots. The same manual says to lay a wet cable flat and straight about once a week to release twists, then let it dry before winding. Twists at the swivel are a common failure owners report.

If yours already acts up, start with the not moving or charging checklist or pool robot not climbing walls. Warranty and service details by brand: Aiper, Beatbot, Dolphin, WYBOT.
